All you’ll need are five simple ingredients, but the layered presentation gives this smoothie a unique visual appeal, making it perfect to add some pep to your step as an afternoon pick-me-up or breakfast. You will definitely feel like you’re on the beach when you take a sip of this smoothie!

For the Strawberry Smoothie:

  • Frozen strawberries – You can buy frozen strawberries or if you use fresh, freeze them overnight.
  • Non-dairy milk – Whatever you like or have on hand. Oat milk and cashew milk are great!
  • Non-dairy yogurt
  • Maple syrup

For the Mango Smoothie:

  • Sweet mangoes – If your mangoes are not ripe and sweet, you’ll likely need to add extra sweetener.
  • Non-dairy yogurt – You can use homemade vegan yogurt or store-bought. 

Can I Use Frozen Mangoes in This Recipe?

While I prefer fresh mangoes, I know that in some parts of the world, mangoes aren’t always widely available—or not at their peak freshness! In that case, you can definitely use frozen mangoes for this recipe. The smoothie will still have a delicious tropical flavor and creamy consistency.

How to Make a Strawberry Mango Smoothie

  • Make the strawberry layer. Blend all of the ingredients together in a blender for 2 minutes or until smooth. 
  • Make the mango layer. Blend the yogurt and mango in the blender until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  • Layer. Pour half of the mango smoothie on the bottom of each glass, and half of the strawberry smoothie on top. (Or, you can make a few layers, as pictured. It’s up to you!)

Tips for Success

  • Add the liquid to the blender first. This creates a vortex that pulls the solid ingredients toward the blade of the blender, making everything blend more evenly, without air pockets.
  • Use frozen strawberries. Frozen strawberries work best in smoothies because they give a nice, creamy consistency.
  • Scrape down your blender periodically. This ensures that all ingredients are well combined and you get a consistently smooth texture throughout.
  • Make sure the mixture is completely smooth before pouring. Sometimes chunks of fruit will hide in the blender! Give it a good stir with a spoon to make sure there aren’t any unblended pieces before pouring the smoothie into serving glasses.

Variations and Serving Suggestions

As with most smoothie recipes, this strawberry mango smoothie is highly customisable. Here are a few ideas to make it your own:

  • Add some greens. For an even healthier smoothie, try adding a handful of spinach or kale to one of the layers. (Yes, this will change the colour!)

Ingredients

Strawberry Smoothie:

  • 2 cups frozen strawberries

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup*

Mango Smoothie:
